Chinese Culture Day Trip
Our secondary students recently took part in an enriching Chinese cultural experience, where they explored traditional arts including guzheng, Chinese painting, calligraphy, and Tai Chi. Notably, calligraphy, one of the oldest art forms, can be traced back over 3,000 years to the time of oracle bone inscriptions, offering students a direct connection to the deep roots of Chinese civilisation. The guzheng, a traditional plucked zither with a history of over 2,500 years, also provided students with a hands on experience of one of China’s most expressive musical instruments.
They also enjoyed a culinary experience at a Chinese restaurant, tasting favourites such as Xiao Long Bao, Mapo tofu, and caramelised sweet potatoes.
This immersive experience allowed students to bring their classroom learning to life, connecting language with authentic cultural practices in a meaningful and memorable way.
