Please give a warm welcome to Cheng Gong students joining BIST for a short term. Wish them a memorable experience .

Bromsgrove?s superb Golf Team have gone one step further from their recent 2nd place in the World Schools Golf Challenge and won the BISAC Golf Championship held at Bangkok Golf Club, today Sunday 28 April 2013.

The team were superbly led by their captain, Tap, who produced the best round of the day with a stunning 2 under par round of 70 on what was described by all the players as ?a very tricky course?. Tap also won the Class A Boys? Division with Mark picking up the silver medal with a 77.

Bright made up the 3rd member of the team with a performance that saw him struggle with a few holes although his professionalism ensured he never gave up!

In the Girls? Class C Division, Ja came 3rd with an excellent round of golf where she shot her best ever 9 holes in a competition, scoring 39 on the front 9! She also won the overall Best Girl?s Nett prize.

Phet?s round was not overall his best ever performance but his tee shot to the par 3 14th green was the closest of the day, resulting in a prize for this spectacular shot. Tap also picked up the prize for the longest drive of the day.

What a fitting end to a wonderful 2012-2013 season ? BISAC GOLF CHAMPIONS! Congratulations!

We would like though to make a special mention to Tap. Today was his last representative game of golf for Bromsgrove International School. He is an incredibly talented golfer who is admired by his peers and the golf coaches in Thailand and around SE Asia. His professional attitude on and off the course is impeccable. He is dedicated to his sport. If he is not playing or practising, he is watching it on the internet or TV! I would like to wish him on behalf of the Bromsgrove community the very best with his future golfing career. It has simply been a pleasure to watch and work with him over the past few years and witness the progression to where he is today. Well done Tap and thank you!

The Bromsgrove International School Golf Team has won 2nd place in the World Schools Golf Challenge 2013 after a superb all round performance.

Tap was overall best individual player by a staggering 20 shots over the 4 days with scores of 72, 65, 68 and 69.

The team of Tap (Capt), Bright, Mark and Liz played some stunning golf over four prestigious courses in and around Hua Hin: Black Mountain, Palm Hills, Springfield and Banyan.

Black Mountain, the course now famous for hosting the Royal Trophy was simply eaten up by Tap as he produced a round of a seven under par 65.

The trip was made possible by the tremendous support we enjoyed from King Power, our main sponsor, Fenix Golf and Bromsgrove International School.

The competition in 2014 is being hosted by the top sports school in the UK, Millfield. Our preparations will begin now and the possibility of a joint team with Bromsgrove UK may just be on the cards!

On Thursday the 28th of March our band, Mr Muscle, took part in a Music Challenge by KPIS. The band, consisting of Tien, Wine, Pat, Pie and Leon in Year 10 and Pun in Year 11, performed their own version of Katy Perry?s song E.T.

The boys came second out of 7 schools, receiving a certificate and an 8000 baht voucher from Super Star Academy. Well done! ? with ‘Pun Inkarat.

Bromsgrove 6th former, Dennis Schurch has won a prestigious award for his essay writing skills in the annual Gulen Institute Youth Platform, and is on his way to Washington DC to collect his award, meet with US Congressmen and tour the city as part of his prize.

To help him on his way, the school has donated the sum of 10,000 baht for Dennis? pocket money on the amazing trip.

Dennis? essay was on the topic of ?Hospitality in the Global Village?, and was one of over 500 entries from over 40 countries worldwide including 40 states within the USA.

Dennis is the second Bromsgrovian to win an award in this annual competition – Desislava Ekzarova was also successful in this competition last year.

A delegation from BIST visited three schools in Taiwan over the weekend of 15 – 18 March.

The Headmaster, Mr Challoner, and his wife were accompanied by Mr Richard Cobey and Mrs Margaret Feng, to be welcomed by Pan Tao School in Miaoli, Hsin Fong School in Hsinchu and Cheng Gong School in Yilan.

Pan Tao and Hsin Fong have already sent students to BIST and the first students from Cheng Gong will arrive next term.

The schedule was a busy one with plenty of opportunities to speak with students and parents. The Headmaster made a presentation to parents, student interviews were carried out, and Mr Cobey delivered an excellent lesson in front of over 300 students. The whole trip was masterminded by our Head of Chinese, Mrs Feng.

At BIST we would like to see more students join us from Taiwan and we welcomed the opportunity to improve our links with our ?sister? schools. The staff returned home very tired, late on Monday 18 March.

My sincere thanks for all support shown during our ?Ring of Friendship? event that took place on?Thursday14 February. Valentine?s Day was a lovely day to spare a thought for others and the amount of?red, pink and white clothing (representing love,?friendship and peace) worn to show support was?wonderful to see.

Donations grew throughout the day and the Gift of Happiness Foundation will be able to give children in need the items they urgently need, thanks to your kindness.

All Early Years children enjoyed creating the ?Ring of Friendship? from baht and satang coins, and I am pleased to announce that the grand total collected through creating the ring was 10,300 Baht – Thank you to the parental volunteers who counted so many coins!

All donated items and money will be transported to Northern Thailand by the Gift of Happiness Foundation on Monday 18 February.

Thank you very much for all of your kind thoughts and help!

Mrs Emma John
Head of Early Years

For this day, secondary students may dress in national costume (of their own or any other country), whether they wish to compete in the Fashion Show or not, and change back into school uniform after the event. If they choose not to wear a national costume, they must be in normal school uniform.
