The final week of term 2 is now upon us and still more is happening at Bromsgrove! Last week, we had the fantastic Secondary Production of Bugsy Malone – the cast involved students from all year groups across the school and really showcased the talent that we have here at BIST. The high quality of acting, rousing songs, fantastic choreography and set design all contributed to two outstanding shows! Well done to all the students and staff who were involved in making this such a success. For the last week of term, we have SERVICE week, which is a student designed and led week, to highlight awareness of the community action that we can take as a school to support our local charities. The SERVICE committee have designed t-shirts, with all proceeds going to charity, and are delivering keynote sessions to all Secondary students. In addition to this, they are running their workshops as ECAs this week and there will be a different fundraising events on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as well as Baht Wars and Weigh your Waste running all week. I encourage everyone to get involved and take action and support the effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Wishing everyone a wonderful last week of the term and a relaxing and enjoyable Songkran break.

SEAMO provides enrichment to schools and students across SE Asia.. Students are asked to solve 25 problems in 90 minutes. Congratulations to Nano who has been rewarded for his Mathematical ability in this year’s competition. Thousands of students enter the competition and only the top 40% are awarded a certificate of achievement. The competition is very good practice for Nano before he represents BIST at the annual FOBISIA Mathematical competition in Beijing, China later on this year.

We are proud to congratulate our set 1 Year 11 students who achieved very pleasing results today in their IGCSE Extended Mathematics exam: 100% of the students entered achieved grade A or above, with 87% of students entered achieving an A*. This is a fantastic achievement by our students, and well deserved after all their hard work. They are now preparing for their IGCSE in Further Mathematics, we wish them all the very best.

Hosted by Garden International School, Rayong

Bromsgrove were represented by a team of 17 athletes at the FOBISIA U13 Games, competing in athletics, swimming, football and basketball against athletes from across South East Asia.

Despite being the youngest team in the competition, with all students young enough to represent the school at the same age category again next year, we performed very well. There were a number of personal best performances and new school records were set in both the pool and on the track, with the team bringing home an impressive haul of 23 medals.

We look forward to further success in the future as our students continue to train and improve.

Thank you and congratulations to the awesome students who made up the FOBISIA U13 team of 2017.

The first half of this term passed very quickly indeed, and at the start of the time we welcomed a few new faces who have settled into Boarding life extremely well and are all active members of our Boarding community. Everyone has been working together in Thursday Team Time events and supporting each other with their Academic Development. We also saw quite a large number of our Boarders taking part (and even winning) Bromsgrove’s Got Talent, which was a fantastic achievement. This half term we are looking forward to seeing lots of the Boarders starring in the Secondary Production of Bugsy Malone.

Last half term, we have had a range of weekend trips including Bounce, Dream World and a Cultural Trip, and have seen lots of our weekly boarders and day students attending this. This half term we will be having trips to the cinema, ice skating, Escape Rooms, bowling, Cartoon Network as well as our termly community service trip. We are also inviting day students to join for three main weekends so if your child or their friends would like to join us, then please contact Ms Trini.

Our first half term passed very swiftly and I find it hard to believe that we have already begun the second half of term 2! Our students in Years 11, 12 and 13 have taken their mock exams and received their results and feedback, and are now focusing on the important lessons that they have learnt as they prepare for their final exams in May and June. Away from the classroom, there was Sports Day, a joint event with Primary, which was a fantastic display of enthusiasm and participation from all of our students as they competed for the House Shield. We also had a wonderful Chinese New Year celebration at WP with the whole school taking part in a student-led, interactive assembly. The half term drew to a close with the Bromsgrove’s Got Talent final and a TISAC Choral Day, both of which you will see on the website. This week, we are hosting the FOBISIA Drama Festival and are looking forward to welcoming 200 students from schools across Asia to Bromsgrove for the Same Same but Different themed event!

The previous half term was one of the busiest of the academic year so far! Our Primary and Early Years children excelled both academically, socially and emotionally and at the many events that were held both at EY and WP. Even in the last week of term the, hugely successful, Fantastic Finish (WP), Literacy Messy Day (EY) and Ring of Friendship (EY) meant that we went into the holidays with a bang!. My favourite events last term were EY and WP sports day, amazing events where every child participated showing determination, teamwork and House Spirit! I particularly enjoyed the House parades, where children from Year 3 to Year 13 worked together to create a spectacular show for the other Houses to enjoy. As we start a new term, I hope that it will be as busy, productive and fun as the one just gone. Thank you to parents, students and staff for your never-ending support. I feel lucky to be part of such a dedicated community that allows these events to be possible.

This week, the Bromsgrove Golf Team achieved an amazing 2nd place overall in the FOBISIA Golf Tournament 2017 in Phuket. Moreover, 8 members out of the team of 10 were awarded runner up trophies.

They played outstandingly well and acted very professionally throughout the entire event, and were excellent ambassadors for Bromsgrove International School Thailand. Well done everyone! We are very proud of your achievements this year.
