The children had a fantastic first week at Summer Camp, full of wonder and discovery. They took part in a range of activities based on our topic ‘The Jungle’. They have enjoyed doing lots of really creative activities.
On Friday the children visited Siam Park City and one of the attractions was to walk through Dinotopia where students were able to see what dinosaurs looked like and how big they were. We also enjoyed a number of fun rides and playground activities. Lots of the children showed that they could face their fears by boarding a train ride through a ‘Jurassic Park Jungle’.

Our End of Year Assembly was packed with parents from Year 1 to Year 6 who had come to help celebrate the wonderful year we have had in Primary. We shared highlights of the year, recognised our departing Year 6 class of graduates and every child performed in the assembly. The calibre of the performances were first class, and we couldn’t have had a better assembly to recognise all of the opportunities our Primary students have had this year, and how successful all of our students have been. We are looking forward to next academic year.

In the morning, the students rotated classes and participated in lessons with each of our camp’s teachers. They learned about time expressions and played Bingo to practice them. Apart from learning about time, the kids also learned about directions by listening to the instructions given by their teacher. For confidence building activities, the students did presentations about their partners in front of the class and did an “act out” activity, where they acted out various scenarios given to them by their teacher.

In the afternoon, the students learned about landmarks in Bangkok. They drew Picture Dictionaries for Bangkok’s landmarks and raced to spell the names of landmarks using letter tiles.

During the PE session, all students went to the golf course near the school. The school provided all students with golf equipment and 10 professional golf instructors. This was the first golf lesson for the majority of the kids, they were extremely engaged and intrigued!

For enrichment, the students participated in a team building game. Each group had to figure out how the whole team could stand on a single piece of folded paper which would get smaller every round. The objective of the game was to show the sacrifice for others.

One of the fun activities that the students got their hands on was ‘Pendulum painting’. The objective of this activity was to create an artistic design from the movement of a swinging bottle (pendulum) filled with paint along with their creativity. During the sport session, students were divided into different groups participating in two different games: Capture the Flag and Dodgeball. While playing the games, children did not only have fun with their group members, but they also significantly developed their cooperative skills while working as a team. After dinner, students played a quiz game called Kahoot which focused on the World knowledge. The kids seemed very excited because this popular game was new for many of them. Before bedtime, students enjoyed their free time supervised by our boarding staff. The kids got to participate in table tennis, pool, and a variety of other games and boarding house activities.

Our Year 6 Graduation was an opportunity to reflect and celebrate all that our oldest students in Primary have achieved over the last 6 years of school. Our students showed us all just how much they have matured and developed, and their performances during the ceremony were outstanding. We are incredibly proud of this yeargroup and know that they leave us with everything they need in their toolkit for Secondary school. Congratulations Year 6 Class of 2018 and we hope you enjoy everything that Secondary school has to offer.

Bromsgrove Intensive English and Adventure Summer Camp 2018: Daily Update 16/07/18

On the 15th July 2018

The Bromsgrove Summer Camp registration was opened for all international boarders before moving into the boarding houses. All students that arrived by airplane were picked up and safely transported to our school. The Summer camp boarding leader, Mr.Barnes briefly introduced the students to our boarding staff and the house rules. The kids had free time to unpack their luggage and to interact with other students in the camp.

On the 16th July 2018

The Coordinator Teacher for Bromsgrove Summer Camp, Mr. James, gave an introduction about the Summer Camp and academic teachers during the morning session. The students actively interacted with the staff and participated by raising their hands, answering questions, laughing, speaking in English, and having a great time. After an introduction presentation, the students were separated into three classes. Every group went on a school which included destinations such as the Performing Arts Center, Sports hall, Clinic, Football field etc. Then, the teacher of each group escorted their students back to classrooms. For the first day of school, the first lesson was a good opportunity for the students to introduce themselves to their classmates and teacher. The kids were provided with ice-breaker activities, in order to get to know each other more, and to become familiar with their new environment.

On Thursday 14 June, Year 2 and 3 gave an excellent performance of The Litter Muncher to Early Years, Primary and their parents. It is a story with an important message about our collective responsibility to look after our environment and our planet. The singing was beautiful and the acting was very dramatic. Parents, students and staff are incredibly proud of Year 2 and 3 and the amazing production they put on. Well done!

On Wednesday 27th June 2018 the children showed great confidence to perform their songs to their families and primary children. We are so proud of the children and all of the hard work they have put into this end of year show!

On Friday 15 June, we formally said farewell to the Class of 2018 in our Graduation Ceremony. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our Year 13 students and to look ahead to their bright futures, with their family, friends and teachers.
We were delighted to welcome our guest of honour, Mr Sam Yang, CEO and Founder of the Yang Foundation to address the graduating students. The sharing of his international experiences were inspiring and thought provoking for all of the audience and we thank him warmly for his time.
We wish our Year 13 well for their external examination results which will be released in August 2018; allowing them to embark upon their carefully researched and chosen university pathways. Good luck to the Class of 2018!
