We have had another busy day in Summer Camp. We have been busy making pirate ships on the sea, our very own pirate hats and taking turns on the iPads. Mostly, we have been making friends and just having a great time!

Today both our day and boarding campers made their way into central Bangkok, to an indoor adventure course called Funarium. Upon arrival we all sat down for a quick safety briefing and orientation that explained to us how to safely enjoy the course.
Our campers enjoyed the facilities which include: a ziplining circuit, padded obstacle course, indoor bicycling and a laser beam room. To break up the fun, our campers also made their own dream catchers out of recycled materials before having lunch.
After a packed 5 hours of fun our campers began their journey back to school. This evening our boarding students will continue preparing for tomorrow’s Trashion Show.

Today was another active and fun-filled day of lessons and activities at Bromsgrove. In Mr Ben’s class, campers explored the world of “The 5 Senses,” as they rotated through a series of stimulating stations in which they used their isolated senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing to guess the answers to various questions. At one station, they answered “What do you smell?” and at another, “What do you taste?” Everyone had fun playing and learning more about the ways we gather information within our environment. Ms Myrille and Ms Mind taught campers all about the art and craft of stained glass, and each camper learned about how sunlight affects various materials as it passes through them. Each boy and girl then got to make their own stained glass artwork, and they are now beautifully decorating the window of the arts and crafts classroom. Soon, all of these artworks will be brought home, so be sure to ask your campers which was their favorite! In Mr Devitt’s class, campers learned how to ask for, give, and follow directions. One camper wore a blindfold, and another had to lead them through a series of directions until they reached their target destination. Following directions is not always easy, so this was an excellent lesson which reinforced the importance of teamwork, giving good directions, and listening carefully before acting. In Mr J’s class, campers increased their vocabulary of articles of clothing and learned how ask questions regarding clothing. Each class played speaking and word games, and a few campers even walked the runway to show off their sense of fashion.

During group time, campers worked together as they raced to complete the “Ping Pong Ball Plastic Cup Challenge.” Each team raced to bounce ping pong balls off a table and into plastic cups and get to 5 the fastest. It sounds easy enough, but it proved quite challenging, as the stack of cups grew with each added ping pong ball. After lessons, campers got the chance to blow off a little steam and get some exercise during sports time. Today’s sport was chair ball which is a similar sport to basketball, but instead of basketball hoop on a pole, one player stands on a chair and holds the basket high in the air. This was a great activity and an exciting way to end a great day!

Welcome to Week 3 of Early Years Summer Camp! Today we have started our new learning theme, Explorers. Class 1 have been busy moulding pirate ships out of plasticine and have made a map of our trip to Safari World last Friday. Class 2 have also explored maps and compass points (North, East, South and West). They used the iPads to complete a treasure hunt of their local area using Google Maps, worked as a team to draw and colour a map of the world and designed their own pirate treasure maps!

Today, Mr Ben taught the campers how to describe and talk about one another through a series of games and activities. Each boy and girl learned new ways to use verbs and nouns to specify who or what they were talking about. In arts and crafts campers painted their papier-mâché pizza slices and added their favorite toppings. They look nearly good enough to eat, but we do not recommend it. In Mr Devitt’s class, campers took part in role-play exercises and pretended they were in a restaurant, and they all practiced ordering menu items and speaking to the restaurant staff. After learning and practicing the basics, campers practiced notifying waiters and waitresses about problems they had with the food they ordered. In Mr J’s class, campers got the chance to express themselves through story telling. Each boy and girl made a storyboard and drew and wrote about their favorite day and activities at camp.

During group time, campers were divided into new teams, and they had to work together to compete in an M&M sorting race and a whacky dress-up relay race. Things got a little crazy, but it was a lot of fun for all. After lessons concluded, everyone was split into two groups, and it was time for more Thai cultural activities. At one of our afternoon stations, campers will get to learn about the cultural significance of Thai garland. After learning how garland is made and getting the chance to make it themselves, they will move to our second station which is a Thai traditional puppet show. These activities of course are fun, but they are also culturally enriching, and they are sure to be wonderful memories of our campers’ time in Thailand.

Our boarders got up nice and late on Sunday morning, getting extra rest after their exhausting day on Saturday. After breakfast, we had our safety brief and began our short journey into central Bangkok.

Our first stop was “LINE Village”, based on Thailand’s favourite instant messaging app. Here our boarders got to explore a variety of themed rooms and take lots of photos and selfies. Later we headed to have lunch before making our way across an incredibly busy city centre to one of Bangkok’s biggest malls – Siam Paragon.

At the bottom floor of Siam Paragon our boarders found the “Sea Life Aquarium”. Home to thousands of marine animals from hundreds of different species, the aquarium is very large. Here our boarders were able to witness sharks, penguins and manta rays, as well as many other animals, up close.

After thousands of photos, a lot of walking and quite a few souvenirs, our boarders finally made it back onto our buses 7 hours later. Tonight we will rest and relax and prepare for another full week of learning.

Yesterday after dinner we split up into groups to either play some sport in our indoor basketball court or enjoy some chill out time in our library. In the evening our boarders began preparing for their big adventure to Pattaya.
Today our boarders ventured all the way to Pattya to visit the famous Cartoon Network Amazone water park. After a short safety brief, we split up into groups and started exploring the park’s multitudes of cartoon themed rides. However most of our time was probably spent in the park’s “Mage Wave” wave pool. Hours passed by as we floated around on rubber rings, braced the 6 foot high waves or plunged down various slides and tubes.
After a much needed lunch and one more hour of playing, we packed up and began our journey back to Bangkok. Tonight we will put on a quiet movie night and let the boarders get some much needed relaxation time before another big day tomorrow.

We are now half way through Summer Camp! Today we had a fantastic time at Safari World, watching the dolphin show and feeding bananas to the giraffes. We walked around the zoo and saw so many animals, including marmosets, tigers and crocodiles.
After lunch we went around the safari park in our coaches, and had lots of fun spotting the different wild animals.
All of the teachers were so impressed with the children’s behaviour today. Well done everyone!
