BOARDING
Boarding at Bromsgrove is about us — our people, our community, and the shared experiences that make our time together so special. BIST Boarding is home to students and staff from around the world. Living and learning alongside people who are both similar and different in many ways helps our students develop empathy, interpersonal skills, and a deeper understanding of others, qualities that are essential on the journey to becoming confident, compassionate global citizens.
One of the most valued aspects of boarding life at BIST is the sense of openness and connection between our houses. All students are welcome to use the communal spaces located on the ground floors of both houses, which provide vibrant environments for socialising and relaxation. Each house also offers its own distinct character, with a variety of social and study spaces designed to meet the needs of different age groups and activities.
Boarding staff work collaboratively across both houses, upholding shared core values and ensuring that every student’s academic, social, and emotional needs are met each day. Some staff members are academic teachers, while others work exclusively within boarding. As in the day school, we use the Bromsgrove Learner Profile to guide everything we do. Students are encouraged to reflect on their actions, achievements, and growth through its key attributes, which quickly become an integral part of daily life.
In addition, teachers from the main school support our boarders through Academic Development sessions held Monday to Thursday evenings, providing assistance with homework and study skills.
Throughout the week and at weekends, we offer boarders a broad range of optional activities designed to promote creativity, wellbeing, and community spirit. Students are encouraged to participate in sports, music, drama, and cooking sessions, as well as in a variety of organised trips and excursions that help them discover new interests and build friendships beyond the classroom.
Our boarding houses close during school holidays, and students are expected to return home or stay with their appointed guardians. The boarding team is happy to assist families with travel arrangements, including transport to and from the airport, ensuring smooth and safe journeys for all students.
We hope that you and your child enjoy a rewarding and memorable year as part of the BIST Boarding community. Our goal is to provide every student with a true home filled with friendship, support, and countless opportunities to learn and grow. Together, we look forward to creating many lasting memories throughout the year ahead.
