Last week, we had our first secondary Cross-Curricular Day of this academic year. This was led by the English faculty with support from Arts and Media and allowed students to work in mixed-age groups to report breaking news stories, filming and producing a final programme, which led to the top three being showcased in the auditorium at the end of the day. The project-based learning day was a resounding success with students engaged and enjoying the learning, as well as developing numerous new skills! The stories ranged from a freak weather hitting Bangkok to Dr Moore being kidnapped and taken to an undisclosed location – no student could fail to be inspired when presented with these starting points! Thank you to all the teachers and students for immersing themselves in the day – the creativity and humour displayed was outstanding. A special thank you to all the staff who helped with the organisation of the day – it wouldn’t have been possible without your enthusiasm and dedication to the project. I now cannot wait for the next cross-curricular days later in the academic year from the Maths and Science faculties!
